Ford company sell 2.2 million cars sell in U.S. this year
Ford Motor Co. is on its way to 2.2 million cars sold under its main brand this year, an increase of 7 percent compared to 2011, the automaker said on Saturday, but the company has acknowledged losing market share, as it struggled to pace with consumer demand .
It marks the second consecutive year, the No. 2 U.S. automaker has exceeded 2 million.
The expected revenue projections for the Ford brand is lower than for total industry profits, as many analysts expect 13 percent higher than in 2012.
This year is the third in a series that industry sales have increased by double digits, as U.S. automakers rebound from a deep recession that rivals Ford, General Motors Co. and Chrysler Group LLC, pushed into bankruptcy in 2009.
Earlier this year, Ford said it expects to lose market share in the U.S. because it could not build enough cars and trucks to meet consumer demand. Consumers are buying fewer pickup trucks than in recent years.
Last year, Ford slightly less than 2.1 million cars and trucks sold under its main brand in the United States. When you add the luxury Lincoln brand Ford sold more than 2.1 million cars last year.
