At least 13 killed and 47  injured in bomb attack in iraq

At least 13 people were killed and 47 wounded in a series of bombings and shooting attacks in central and eastern Iraq Monday, police said.
In an attack, went three roadside bombs off in three houses in the town of al-Mussayab, about 60 miles south of Baghdad, in the early morning, killing seven people and wounding four others, a local police source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

Meanwhile, another car bomb convoy of the provincial governor hit, damage one of his convoy vehicles and wounding three of his bodyguards on board, the source said, adding that the governor himself escaped the attack unharmed.

Both cities are part of a once troubled region known as the Triangle of Death, which is a cluster of towns scattered between south of Baghdad and north of Hilla city, the capital of Babil province, about 100 km south of Baghdad.

In Hilla, a car bomb parked near a Shiite mosque exploded and killed one pilgrim and wounded three others, one of the Babil provincial police source anonymously told Xinhua.

Elsewhere, a car bomb went off near a police patrol in the town of Tuz-Khurmato, about 200 north of Baghdad, and wounded two civilians, a local police source said.

Violence and sporadic high-profile bombings are still common in the Iraqi cities despite the dramatic decrease in violence since the peak in 2006 and 2007, when the country was overrun by sectarian killings.
