Buckingham Palace said the prince was "ready to embrace something new" for her annual Christmas market broadcast to celebrate her Diamond Jubilee - 60 years on the throne.
The palace said the Queen, broadcast and thought it looked "fantastic."
The 86-year-old monarch has a prerecorded Christmas broadcast on radio since 1952 and on television since 1957.
She writes the speeches themselves, and the broadcasts mark the rare cases where the Queen expresses his own opinion without government consultation.
It is broadcast on Christmas Day fifteen.
