                                   Newtown shooting Gun lobby challenging as the U.S. School

U.S. has observed a moment of silence for the 26 victims of Connecticut School shooting, a gun lobby group called for armed security at schools. Bells rang 26 times in Newtown, a week after 20 children and six adults died in Sandy Hook Elementary School.

In Washington, called the National Rifle Association for the "good guys" to be activated for "absolute protection".

Adam Lanza, 20, led the attack at 09:30 ET (14:30 GMT) after killing his mother. Later shot himself.

Funerals for the victims took place during the week, and continues in Newtown on Friday.

Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy has asked people across the country to the moment of silence them, and churches in many other countries also rang the bell 26 times.

The governor, with his deputies, marked the moment on the steps of Edmond Town Hall in Newtown.

Wayne LaPierre, CEO of the NRA, criticized politicians who had "exploited" the tragedy in Newtown for "political gain" against laws that designate schools as weapons-free zones.

"They tell each crazed killer in America that schools are the safest place to inflict maximum chaos with minimal risk," he said.

Mr. LaPierre calls for a national database of mentally ill and blame violent video games and movies for imaging of murder as a "way of life".

The powerful U.S. gun rights lobby NRA has called for armed police in all American schools within weeks if the Americans victims of Newtown, Connecticut, school massacre remembered with a moment of silence.

National Rifle Association CEO Wayne LaPierre said efforts to keep weapons schools were not effective and made schools more vulnerable than airports, banks and other public buildings guarded by armed guards.
